Class Information

Year 4 will be completing a statutory government timestables test in the Summer term so please encourage your child to be practising and using times tables rockstars. More information in the homework section.

Attendance

It is extremely important that your child attends school every day unless they are too sick to come in. If your child is going to be absent, please ring the school to let us know.

Punctuality

Please make sure that your child arrives at school on time (8.45 am). Lessons begin the minute your child sets foot in the classroom. Your child will enter through the main playground gate.

Uniform

Please ensure your child has the correct uniform and has their name in everything including their coat and P.E Kit. For P.E children should have a white T-Shirt, black or navy shorts, and black pumps. This half term, we have PE on Mondays and Fridays so please make sure your child has a kit. Children can wear their kit to school on PE days.

Reading Books

Reading books are changed regularly, therefore your child will bring a different reading book home. Please read with your child for a short period each night encouraging them to sound out unfamiliar words and read with fluency and expression. Please make a comment in your child’s reading record and return this with the reading book on the days stated. There is a £3 charge for any lost or damaged reading books. You can find information on ways to support your child's reading on our Reading section of this page.

Homework

Spellings will be taught weekly to the children and they will then have a spelling test on Fridays. You will find the lists of spellings and links to help support your children with their spellings in the spelling section below.

We also have a Homework Menu that your child can use to choose a creative activity. This homework will be presented to the rest of the class every half term. Your child can also practice their times tables through using TimesTables Rock Stars.  Dont forget to also encourage your child to use reading eggs if possible.

Water

Children are encouraged to drink regularly throughout the day and will have access to fresh water.  To help reduce plastic pollution, please consider a refillable bottle instead of single -use.

Inhalers/Prescribed Medicine

If your child needs an inhaler, could you please send it in with a name label and instructions on when to take it. All parents must sign a medical consent form in the main Reception to authorise any medicines to be administered by staff.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. If you wish to speak to us at hometime please wait until all children have been picked up and we will be happy to help.
